Learn with the Western North Carolina Sculpture Center!
Blacksmith Marc Aaron Banks is excited to lead new and experienced artists in hands-on time in the sculpture studio. Are you looking for a guided introduction to modern and historical ironwork? Are you an experienced sculptor looking for studio time under the guidance of an experienced blacksmith who can advise you as you choose materials, fabricate your work, or create your tools? The Sculpture Center is the space for you!
Participants in workshop sessions will gain an understanding of the advantages and limitations of hot metalwork, forging, and types of steel. Students will gain hands-on experience creating art, tools, and components for installations.

Meet your instructor, Marc! Marc's blacksmithing practice began when he was a 16 year-old at South Caldwell High School.
Marc has worked as the Blacksmith at Whippoorwill Academy since 2022.
