Meet the WNCSC CREW
JOSEPH BIGLEY, Executive Director
Joe received a BFA from Appalachian State University and an MFA in Sculptural Dimensional Studies from Alfred University in Alfred, N.Y. He is the founder and Executive Director of The Western North Carolina Sculpture Center and currently full-time Lecturer of Art at Appalachian State University. This studio practice is expansive, exploring material, process, content, and manners of display. He has been casting metals for 22 years. Cast iron is a core material in his current studio practice.
EMMA FINNEN, In-House Sculptor/Education Coordinator
Emma is a substitute teacher with a passion for metal sculpture. She has a BFA in Art Education K-12 with a concentration in sculpture and fibers from Appalachian State University. Emma also completed student teaching in art at a North Wilksesboro highschool. Emma began volunteering with WNC Sculpture and the Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum in the fall of 2019, moving into internship from 2020-2022. She now serves as an In-House Sculptor and the Education Coordinator. Emma's work has been shown across North Carolina and internationally.
MARC BANKS, Team Member
Marc is an experienced production manager and engineer with a history of working in the furniture and metal fabrication industries. He is certified, experienced, and skilled in various levels of iron work and blacksmithing. His presence and contributions to the WNCSC team are invaluable.
